Advent at Beautiful Savior
Advent is a time of preparation.
For at least the last 1500 years, Christians around the world have found it helpful to set aside the last four weeks before Christmas to prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ's coming. We think about his first coming as a child in Bethlehem, the way he continues to come to us in his Word, and the day when he will come again in glory at the end of all time.
Consider making use of these tools to help prepare your hearts:
Sundays in Advent
Starting on Sunday, December 2nd, we gather around the Advent Wreath and focus on the gifts that Jesus came to bring us. Our focuses will be:
December 2: He comes bringing Hope
December 9: He comes bringing Peace
December 16: He comes bringing Joy
December 23: He comes bringing Love
Midweek Advent Services
We meet for special evening worship services on the first three Wednesdays in December (5th, 12th and 19th) at 7pm. In these shorter services of prayer and song, we consider the miracle of God coming into the world for us.
All are welcome to join us for a soup supper served in our fellowship hall on Wednesday, December 5th, starting at 6pm.
Advent Home Devotions
If you aren't already in the practice of home devotions, Advent is a wonderful time to begin. After dinner or before bed, gather around an Advent wreath with your family and share God's Word together.
Our synod has prepared a booklet of Advent devotions for each day for your home use. The booklet also has information for ordering and using an Advent wreath. Pick up a printed copy of the booklet at church, or click the link below for a digital copy.
